Singing Across Cultures

Let's come together to sing songs from a rich mix of cultures, including vibrant Latin American traditions and songs from Scandinavia, while discovering new rhythms, languages, and musical stories along the way. The course is lead by folk musicians from Sweden, Argentina and Chile with a broad knowledge of folk songs from various traditions.

Beyond building our shared repertoire, we'll also play with improvisation as a fun, creative bonus. We'll share practical, hands-on tools to help you invent melodies and arrangements on the spot, inspired by systems like Ritmo con Señas, so we can make music together in the moment, freely and joyfully.

Structure

The workshop is mainly led in English.

Workshops over three sessions: October 24, November 14, and December 19. Sign up for a single workshop or all of them. 500 kr per participant and workshop.

Who is it for?

To get the most out of the course it’s good if you have experience from singing together in harmonies, for example in a choir. You don’t have to know how to read music to participate. Suggested age span is 18-99.

Most importantly, bring your curiosity about different musical styles and a willingness to explore your voice together with others.
