That a melody could be so strong that it could be sung without either words or accompaniment and still shine forth as a presence in the world all by itself, is a goal always to keep in mind. What’s important in this art form, and how to handle the different issues that make a great song great.
Andy Fite has been a professional musician for over 40 years in the course of which he has had occasion to learn hundreds of songs —great, good, indifferent and downright awful—from many different traditions, and has written over 700 of his own. That learning a large number of great songs by other people, knowing all the words and being able to sing and play them, is the best foundation on which to build your own art, is a constant touchstone.
Andy will show you some of his own work, listen with attention to yours, help you find inspiration to write, and help you solve some of the puzzles that writing a song can present.
Two and two, 45 minute-sessions during 12 weeks.
No previous knowledge needed. Beginnner to advanced level. You will be paired based on level and interest. This course will be held in English but the tutor also speaks and understand Swedish.
Starting week 6 and week 37. Avaliable times Tuesdays 15:00-21:00.
